Jobs, visits and customers organised.
Our Story
Dougal was hand-built over several years in the evenings by Andy a programmer, co-owner and manager of a local plumbing company.

It was shaped for the daily needs of a real business so it stayed easy and quick to use with only what was actually needed and useful.

In 2024, due to interest from other local businesses Dougal became available to everyone. Since then, it has seperated into its own company and continues to rapidly grow.
"
At my company I went from managing just one person to a whole mess of vans on the road. I also watched a lot of our good employees go out and start businesses of their own.

Whether it's one person or a whole crew they ended up facing the same problem. The work either ends up scattered across memories, texts, photos and notes or they end up losing half their day to admin with a big cumbersome software suite.

So Dougal was built and kept easy to use and it simply keeps the important stuff organised. To give you the peace of mind that you're in control and don't have to keep everything in your head.
"

Another tool in the bag, not a supervisor breathing down your neck.

- Andy
Scales with your business
Works on mobile, desktop, for single users & bigger companies
Dougal was built both to cater to a single owner out on the road all day with only small windows for admin work in the evening. As well as for full time admin staff who use it all throughout the day at a computer and everything in between.

Ideal for businesses with 1-30 users
The basics, kept easy
Works great with hundreds of industries
Use the familiar notes styled job journal to keep photos, notes, travel logs, store links to your quotes and invoices, your product lists or material costs, links to any certificate or safety PDF's plus whatever else is unique to your business.

Common uses include: inspectors, installers, repairers, tradespeople, property managers, maintenance teams, cleaners, landscapers, pest control, assessors, consultants and field service teams.
Distance at a glance
Reduces travel time. Optimise bookings.
When adding a visit to the calendar, Dougal colours existing visits by distance, helping you find the best slot with minimal travel.

The calendar also shows your priority hours and days loud and clear with the flexibility to display all hours and days only when needed.
Let Dougal do some work
Finally, Get on top of things.
Dougal helps by snoozing jobs and then bringing them back to your attention only when they actually need it.

It also automates a lot of your usual tasks like customer reminders and followups and is constantly receiving additional skills.

Ownership of the Dougal platform

All rights in and to the Dougal platform are reserved. Nothing on this website, inside the app, in these Terms, or in any communication from Dougal transfers ownership of the Dougal platform, its source code, its design, its business logic, its branding, or any related intellectual property to any user, company, contractor, customer, or third party.

Your access to Dougal is a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable licence to use the hosted Dougal service for your own internal business operations, subject to these Terms. This licence is not a sale, assignment, transfer, white-label licence, source-code licence, resale licence, or distribution licence.

Restrictions on use

You must not, and must not allow anyone else to:

  • copy, reproduce, modify, adapt, translate, mirror, distribute, sell, lease, licence, sublicense, or resell Dougal;
  • reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, extract, or attempt to discover any source code, structure, database design, or underlying system logic;

No licence or right to use any Dougal mark is granted except with prior written permission from Dougal. Unauthorised use of Dougal marks may violate trademark, passing off, consumer protection, unfair competition, and other applicable laws.

Customer and business data

The operational data that your company enters into Dougal, such as your customers, jobs, visits, notes, photos, documents, staff records, schedules, and business information, remains your company data. You grant Dougal the limited permission required to host, process, secure, back up, transmit, display, and otherwise handle that data so that Dougal can provide, maintain, protect, and improve the service.

Ownership of your company data does not give you ownership of Dougal software, systems, layouts, code, branding, product ideas, database structure, or intellectual property. Likewise, Dougal ownership of the platform does not mean Dougal claims ownership of the real business records you enter into your account.

Third-party materials and services

Dougal may use third-party infrastructure, libraries, payment processors, hosting providers, email providers, maps, fonts, security tools, or other services. Those third-party materials remain owned by their respective owners and are used subject to their own licences and terms. Dougal does not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, secure, free from errors, free from data loss, or suitable for every business process. You should maintain your own procedures, records, backups, checks, and business continuity practices appropriate for your business.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, Dougal is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, punitive, exemplary, or economic loss, including loss of profit, revenue, goodwill, customers, business opportunity, data, contracts, anticipated savings, or business interruption, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such loss.

Where liability cannot be excluded, Dougal's liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law, including, where applicable, resupplying the service or refunding the amount paid for the affected service during the relevant period.

Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold Dougal harmless from claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs, and expenses arising from your use of Dougal, your company data, your breach of these Terms, your breach of law, your infringement of third party rights, or the acts and omissions of users under your company account.
